Rushcreek FC Welcome Sheridan for Historic Friendly at Howell Park

After weeks of heavy rain, storms, and flooding, preseason plans across the area were repeatedly disrupted. Rushcreek’s planned friendly had to be canceled and rescheduled several times. Sheridan Youth Soccer and Perry County Youth Soccer, one of the communities hit hardest by the storms and floodwaters, was also forced to cancel its first preseason friendlies.
Our thoughts remain with the families and communities affected by the flooding.
When the original plans could no longer move forward, a new opportunity came together. Sheridan Youth Soccer and Rushcreek FC D3 teams were able to get into contact with each other, giving both teams a chance to return to the field and prepare for the season ahead. The result was a beautiful day of soccer. Howell Park was full of life as players competed, families gathered along the sidelines, and the Rushcreek Night Owls hosted Sheridan for the first-ever preseason friendly at the park.
The grass may have been long, but it wasn’t slowing down the Night Owls. The match marked another exciting step forward as Rushcreek prepares for its first full fall season—one built on resilience, community, and a shared love of the game.
A special thank you to Sheridan for joining us and helping make a little piece of Rushcreek soccer history, as well to Coach Fox for stepping in to referee the match. We appreciate everyone who helped make this memorable day possible.
We look forward to welcoming Sheridan Youth Soccer to Howell Park when the opportunity comes again.
